A Note from the Word of Life Principal

Thank you all for your prayers and support as I considered the call to serve as Principal at Word of Life Lutheran School!  I feel very blessed to be part of this ministry and felt even more blessed as many of you shared your encouragement and support of my change in position.  I began teaching at Word of Life four years ago as the 6th grade homeroom and science teacher.  Last year, I moved from this position into the 8th grade homeroom as middle school math teacher.  But it is amazing sometimes to see the plans that God has for us as I now move into the principal position!

I am originally from Florida and come from several generations of Lutheran educators.  I am married to Matthew Bergholt, who works at the School Ministry Office of the LCMS.  We have one son, Christopher, who is beginning Kindergarten here at WOL this year.  We are also expecting our second child this October.

I attended Concordia University Wisconsin and graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and a Minor in Math.  I served as 6th grade homeroom teacher and primarily taught math for my first call at St. Luke’s in Oviedo, FL.  My second call began in 2006 at Trinity in downtown Orlando where I served as 7th grade homeroom teacher and teaching math as well as several other subjects.  During this call, I began and completed a Master’s program at the University of Central Florida in K-8 Math and Science Education.  In addition, during this time, I also completed the SLED (School Leadership Development Project) of the LCMS to become an administrator.  Upon completing this two programs I then was called as principal of Trinity and served there for an additional six years.

As I begin this new position, I think about all that I care about in this ministry.  We are very blessed with the teachers who serve here, with the pastors and congregations who support this school, and the growth we have seen over the last few years.  My hope and my prayers are that this can continue!  We are a unique school and I look forward to working with the staff to help this program continue to grow and support our families.
