Each year the last decade, and probably many years more, Timothy has held a Rally Day event to call people back to a new year of Christian Education. Children move up to a new grade and meet a new teacher, new teens join the youth group, and adults are encouraged to continue or start a new routine of Bible Study with their church family. This year Rally Day has a special significance as many of us have endured a long-time away from in-person Christian Education gatherings at church.
We are offering some unique opportunities this year as there continues to be some health concerns in our community. Here are some noteworthy features:
Classes for Children/Families: Sunday school (grades PK through 6) offers a hybrid plan each month for families to find a comfortable spot: 2 Sundays Family-Groups Sunday School in the gym with parents and kids together (2nd & 4 Sundays), 2 Sundays of traditional age-group Sunday School classes (masks required for 9 and up, encouraged for younger students), and the occasional 5th Sunday fun activity time. Lastly, we will continue to provide material for Sunday School at Home, which supports and encourages parents to be that primary faith educator for their children that they have been called to be. All parents are asked to talk about the lessons and Bible content throughout the week to nurture their child’s spiritual growth and support their faith.
Nursery: We are back to having a staffed nursery during the education hour and the late worship service for children under 5 who need some kid-friendly time on Sunday mornings
Youth: We have all youth in grades 7-12 meeting for in-person (masked at this time) class each week in the youth room on the 3rd floor room (South) with leaders Gary and Amanda.
Adult Classes: Adults have a number of opportunities to study in person and through Zoom
Sunday – Zoom and in-person Bible Class with Pastor Dinger or special guest held in the MPRoom
Sunday – Lectionary readings Bible Class with various leaders in 3rd Floor North Classroom
Wednesday – Zoom Bible Class with Pastor Rall
Thursday – Zoom and in-person Bible Class with Thomas Gustafson (seminary student worker) in MPRoom
Confirmation: Confirmation Classes kick off in September back with full in-person learning, traditionally for our students in 7th and 8th grades
First Communion Classes: Pastor Dinger will be leading First Communion Classes for 5th and 6th grade students and their parents in October
New To Timothy Classes: A few times throughout the year we will offer series of classes for people who are new to the Lutheran faith and Timothy.
I pray that you find a place of learning and fellowship that will support your faith and enourage others in their faith.
In Christ,
Mark Thompson, DCE
