LASM Has an event coming up for the 12th of September at 8:15am. Check it out:

As Missouri’s oldest permanent European settlement, the village of Ste. Geneviève was settled by French Canadians around 1735 on the west bank of the Mississippi River about two miles south of its present location. The village was one of several important French communities forming a region known as the Illinois Country, part of the vast territory held by France in North America at the time.
In 1763, after the French and Indian War ended, France ceded all of its holdings west of the
Mississippi River to Spain. Despite the transfer and new Spanish government in the region, Ste.
Geneviève retained its distinctive French character and language.
Much of Historic Ste. Geneviève’s charm and ambiance are due to the remarkable preservation of the original colonial settlement.
Experience this charm on a day trip with our church’s senior ministry, Lindenwood Area Senior
Ministry! We’ll spend the morning at the Ste. Genevieve National Historical Park where we’ll learn about the city’s rich French Colonial history with guided tours of the Jean Baptiste Valle House and Green Tree Tavern. A lunch of pasta and salad will be enjoyed at local favorite, Sirros Restaurant.
Following lunch, we’ll explore the Sainte Geneviève Museum Learning Center, a natural history
museum. There we’ll have the pleasure of receiving a special presentation on the museum’s newest exhibit, which features John James Audubon. We’ll depart from the upper parking lot of Southwest Baptist Church (6401 Scanlan Avenue). $75/person includes: coach bus transportation, lunch, and museum admission. Please RSVP to katie@lasministry.org or 314-647-4591. Trip payment can be mailed to LASM, 6401 Scanlan, St. Louis, MO 63139. Please include the name and phone number of an emergency contact person for the day of the trip.
