I don’t know about you, but sometimes life can get a little... mundane. We tired of seeing the same thing every day, or doing the same thing every day, or eating the same thing every day. How many days go by and you don’t take notice of the sun rising in the East? How many wonders of nature do you see and not even take notice because you’ve already seen it once - been there done that. For many of us “variety is the spice of life.”
This boredom with the common things of life aren’t just isolated to the things of nature but we at times even get bored with things of God. Have you ever said, “I don’t need to go to church today, it’ll be the same thing as last week,” or “I don’t need to read God’s Word, I’ve read it before, it’ll be the same thing as it was before.”
God never tires of telling the sun to rise. God never tires of telling plants to grow and birds to fly south for the winter and rainbows to appear after a storm. God never gets bored with the familiar and the common. God takes delight in these things because they are His creation - works of His very own hand.
And each believer is a delight to God. Each one is special, unique and prized. God doesn’t say to a newly baptized person, “Been there done that, nothing exciting here.” No, he delights in them and he delights in you. Much like each new dawn is special and beautiful, so are you special and beautiful to God. Just as His mercies are new every morning, so also is His word made fresh for you every time you come to Him, the same old same old is never boring with God.
